Instruction 1- Dialogue
- Students learned about the function and purpose of dialogue within writing.
- Students read published writing with a focus on the function and purpose of dialogue.
- Students revised their own narrative drafts with a focus on the function and purpose of dialogue, in order to lift the level of writing.
- Students had to first recognize whether or not dialogue served a purpose within their own writing. If they had no dialogue, they had to identify areas where including dialogue would be meaningful. If they already had dialogue, but it did not serve a purpose in their writing, they had to revise the dialogue in order to make it meaningful to the overall narrative.
