Reflection on Instruction 1: Dialogue
Thoughts on lesson and assessments:
- Happy with the way the lessons were executed.
- Instructional strategies were useful because students had to first recognize the skill in published writing then try and recognize the skill in their own writing. It really showed them aspects of their writing that they did well and aspects in which they still need improvement.
Next time I can try to:
- Have students work in smaller groups to ensure they have a voice in the discussion, and hold them accountable for what they discover in the reading.
Reflection on Instruction 2: Elaboration
Thoughts on lessons and assessment:
- Happy with the pacing and structure of both lessons.
- Incorporated both reading and writing, which is essential for student growth.
Next time I can try to:
- Make the "Show...Don't Tell" slide interactive, rather than me telling the students what each means, they can come up with their own ideas.
